Ruth Remembers our Fallen Warriors
My Great Uncle Norman was a tail gunner in a bomber during World War II. His plane was shot down during a mission over Japan in 1945. We don't know for sure, but he probably suffered hunger and maybe torture during his six month stay in the prison camp. And sadly, just six weeks before the end of the war, he was marched before a firing squad and shot. President Truman awarded him the Purple Heart, and my family has a certificate (which I read in the radio spot) and a flag to remember his service. His death seems senseless, but I believe his death helped bring peace between us and our now strong ally, Japan.
Join me this weekend in remembering the brave men and women, like my Uncle, who have given the ultimate sacrifice to help bring peace and freedom to America and our planet. Also please remember and pray for our men and women who now are in harms way in Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere in the world, and pray for peace on the Korean Peninsula, in the Middle East, and elsewhere in our war torn world.
