Defend our country, or the result will be its destruction!

Defense of our country, both internally and externally is one of the most important jobs of government. If people are not safe from other countries, then the United States will eventually fall. If people are not safe going to work, or running a business, our economy will fail. If people are not safe in their own neighborhoods and homes, lawlessness will prevail. Protection should not come at the expense of freedom, but be there to ensure that all people in the United States have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I support the military. I will fight to make sure that they have the finances to do their job. I will support advanced technology that will aid in fewer civilian and military casualties. I believe that one of the best ways to prevent war is to be ready for it. Our military and police forces and other similar groups are the protectors of everything we hold dear in this country, so they need to be well supported with legislation and resources.

I will support ballistic missile defense. In this volatile world, I think it is extremely important that we reduce the threat of nuclear weapons. It is a fairytale dream to believe we can ever have a world without nuclear weapons again, but we can have a world where they are not as big of a threat, with an operational missile defense system. This technology must go on, not just for the sake of the United States, but for the world.

I will continue to fight the war on terrorism. In spite of what my opponent and the President want to call it, there are still a large number of terrorists in the world who have declared war on us. I will fight to give our intelligence communities the tools they need to detect potential terrorist threats, and I will fight to give our military and police forces the technologies they need to counteract terrorists. Our economy is struggling now, but if we have a terrorist attack on our soil, this could devastate it. For example: one nuclear bomb launched from a ship and exploded in the upper atmosphere over New York could destroy most of the electrical grid and other electrical infrastructure in most of the Northeast, and throw a major portion of our population back into 19th century technology. (See Report of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack.) You can imagine what this would do.

In addition to this, I will fight for the funding and technology needed to defend our borders and keep our country safe from terrorists and organized crime. A war is currently going on in our neighbor, Mexico. This war cannot help but affect us in Arizona and the rest of the United States. The organized criminal elements are bringing violence into our country and overwhelming our local police forces. This is a federal problem and should have federal help. I would also support aid to Mexico in fighting these organized criminal groups. I believe that working with Mexico, we can come up with a solution to end the violence.
